Hello and thank you for visiting my website
My name is Terry Tucker, I possess a less than adequate singing voice and lack the talents to either read music or play a musical instrument. Despite these drawbacks however, I am able to conjure a tune from somewhere and my lyrics can be described as passable.
I was also fortunate to be a teenager during the golden age of pop music, the sixties. Across the Atlantic, songwriters such as Bob Dylan, Brian Wilson, Carole King, Bacharach/David and Paul Simon were prolific, while my personal favourites at home were Lennon/McCartney, Jagger/Richards and Ray Davies.
Unlike today’s musicians who play huge arenas after five minutes of fame, sixties stars served their apprenticeships by appearing in dance halls all over the country. Even Newbury was able to attract Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Cream, The Yardbirds and a young Van Morrison with his group Them; he didn’t smile then either!
It seems incredible now that arguably the three most talented lead guitarists in England in the sixties played in our town. Lesser known but also worthy of a mention were Chris Farlowe, The Alan Bown Set, PP Arnold and The Nice and a group with a large local following, Geno Washington and The Ram Jam Band. Those were the days.
All of the acts mentioned made such an impression on me that, a mere thirty years later and with the invaluable assistance of SongandMedia, I was able to complete my first song. I am now into double figures and have selected the six compositions that are the least likely to assault the ears of the general public.
Thank you for taking the trouble to listen to my music and watch my song video, should you wish to get in touch, I can be contacted by email by clicking on the link below.
